Cultural Festivals for Chicago Families

There’s so much to enjoy this summer, but it’s also a great time to celebrate and learn about the many people who call Chicagoland home.

Make celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Juneteenth, and Pride Month part of your summer traditions. Take a look at some of these events below.

AAPI Events

DIY Origami Butterflies

May 9-13, 2022

Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by creating a colorful origami butterfly. All supplies are provided. 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Clearing Branch Library.

AAPI Restaurant Week 2022

May 13-22, 2022

Taste different foods. OCA Greater Chicago hosts AAPI Restaurant Week with AAPI-owned restaurants.

Spring Festival: Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month

May 15, 2022

Celebrate with arts, storytelling and craft projects.

June 16 party

June 16, 2022

Enjoy food and music at this celebration, hosted in partnership with the Chicago Base Advisory Board and Tilton Park.

June 19 Independent Festival

June 18-19, 2022

Join the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission and the Kane County African American Coalition for a celebration. There will be live bands, a BBQ, a DJ and a parade.

Homewood-Flossmoor Juneteenth Festival & Parade

June 19, 2022

See a parade, live music, vendors, food trucks and more during this celebration of African-American culture.

Chicago Pride Festival

June 18-19, 2022

  • Address: Northalsted on Halsted Street from Addison to Grace Street, Chicago
  • Cost: $15 donation

Experience live music on three stages, food and drink, over 100 vendors, drag shows, an animal parade, giveaways, games, DJs and more. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. $15 donation.

Navy Pier Pride

June 25, 2022

Families with children of all ages can enjoy this family-friendly event that spans the entire pier. Experience music, dance, storytelling and other activities.

Pride in the Park Chicago

June 25-26, 2022

  • Address: Grant Park
  • Cost: $100 to $275, free for children 10 and under accompanied by a paying adult

Check out this annual outdoor music festival that spans two days in Grant Park. It features LGBTQ+ performers, performers, vendors, and more.
