Habitat World at India Habitat Center has revealed the list of their upcoming events that are sure to get you excited.

First on the list is a film festival. The Center collaborated with the Embassy of Latvia for the Latvian Film Festival. The films to be screened, including selections from Cannes, Oscar nominations and national award winners, constitute a rich selection not only to experience Latvian cinema, but also to stimulate the visual imagination of the public. The festival’s first film, ‘Blizzard of Souls’ (2019) is a surreal war in all its glory, embellished with an exceptional musical score. It will be screened on October 13 at 7 p.m. ‘Four White Shirts’ (2018) with its representations of the hippies of the 60s, ‘The Beatles’ and ‘A Hunger for Freedom’ are Cannes classics. ‘Manny’ (2020) with its Indian protagonist connects viewers to their common desires, ambitions, struggles and lifestyles. The aforementioned films will be screened on October 14 and 15.

Nicholas Hoffland’s Western Classical Music Walks are also returning to Amaltas. This week, he walks through the composers who wrote the waltzes the world dances on in Just Waltzing Through.

Their online calendar continues with weekly clips and a few new ones. In this time of propitiatory mother goddesses (the Navratri), the next installment of the Mohan Khokar Dance Archives features important Indian dancers who created enduring institutions such as Rukmini Devi Arundale. Based on materials from the famous Mohan Khokar Dance Collection, the next two films feature Nari Shakti. Mohan Khokar was also the first male student of Kalakshetra, originally from North India, in 1945. Rare documents, letters, brochures and posters make this film memorable. It was first created in Kalakshetra 5 years ago.

The third conference in the series, “Insights on Culture” with Benoy K Behl, art historian, filmmaker and photographer, revolves around the film “Indian Roots of Tibetan Buddhism”, which reflects the intellectual climate dynamic of Nalanda. It will take place on October 16 at 6 p.m.
