Snapshot of Armeena Khan selected by two international film festivals
Armeena Khan announced that her short film Instantaneous, co-produced and directed by filmmaker Sharaz Ali, has participated in two international film festivals.
“Hey, folks,” Armeena wrote. “As you may remember, Sharaz Ali and I produced our first short film Instantaneous. It was shortlisted for the Gold Movie Awards and Lift-Off Global Network. You will soon be able to see the film on one of these platforms.
Armeena announced its entry into production in June. “Sharaz and I have joined hands for good and we will bring you many more projects this year.” She described Instantaneous as a story that portrays the importance of relationships which can be “life’s greatest blessing”. Armeena plays a Pakistani-Canadian woman who is stranded in Turkey during the COVID-19 lockdown. There, she discovers an unlikely company in another character played by Turkish actor Mert Kılıç.
Instantaneous also stars TV actor Ayhan Işık.
The Gold Movie Awards are hosted by an annual international film festival in London and the Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival is hosted by Lift-Off Global Network, which favors works by independent filmmakers. Lift-Off offers cinematic content, short films, commercials, music videos and animation.
Last week, Arafat Mazhar To glide won the Special Jury Prize at the 4th ANIMAFILM festival. He is also the first Pakistani to be screened at the prestigious Annecy Festival. Other Pakistani films that have won, nominated, or screened in international exhibitions include Sarmad Khoosat Zindagi Tamasha and that of Usman Mukhtar Bench.
